Be Faithful

LUTHERAN HIGH NORTHEAST DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS
FRI          1/27/12

Today’s Bible passage is Romans 14:1:  “Accept him whose faith is weak, without passing judgment on disputable matters.”Today’s thought:  Think about who wrote these words that were inspired by the Holy Spirit. St. Paul had been a very well-educated Pharisee, learning from the best Jewish religious teacher of his time. On the road to Damascus he had personally been called by Jesus himself. In one of his epistles he tells us that before his ministry went public he spent years being taught personally by the Holy Spirit. Wouldn’t someone like Paul pass judgment on others? Maybe God constantly reminded him that at one time he didn’t even have a saving faith and took pride in hunting down Christians. God’s love in Paul’s life enabled him to love others regardless of their race, their gender, their status, and their faith. Today’s prayer:  Father, when we are tempted to think that we are better than others because we go to a Lutheran High School, humble us and remind us that any faith we have is not the result of our own efforts. Rather it is a gift completely from You. You don’t condemn us when our faith is weak. Teach us not to condemn others whose faith is weak. Bless us in Jesus name. Amen.
